Can you meet me?

G loves it when one of her grandchildren says, "G, may I come over? Can you meet me at the road?"

There is a busy side road they have to cross to get to G's house.
G loves to go and watch for them to be sure they cross safely over to her yard.
G loves to 'meet them at the road!'

Here she comes...

G loves waiting for her girl!

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord.

Persimmon Time

Had to stand in the back of the truck to reach them.

Had to leave a bunch of good ones hanging out over the pond.

But it's all gonna' be worth it when Mr. James transforms them into Persimmon Pudding!

One of the special things I wait for all year.

for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true

Gotcha!

"G, there's water running out of our room!"

When G goes to look...

Clue-less?

 G.   In the Kitchen. With the pancake spatula.

It had been so long that we had to read the rules before we started.

And it might be that G engaged in a little GHB (G Holds Back) policy.
She really doesn't like to beat her babies at games.
The fun is in the play!

Behold, children are a gift from the Lord.

So, What happened is...

The usual Thursday night sleepover at G's.

The usual order up breakfast of chocolate laced pancakes or buttered toast.

A good time to tell G---blow by blow--a synopsis of the movie Skull Island, beginning with

"So what happened is..."

While the subject matter may not be G's cup of tea, wouldn't trade the breakfast table movie review for anything!

(King Kong notwithstanding)

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord.

Morning Glories Again!

"Flowers appear on the earth, the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land."
Song of Solomon 2:12

This lovely verse sounds like spring...but not for Morning Glories.
G's favorite flowers are really weeds: Queen Anne's Lace and Morning Glories.

Queen Anne's Lace is truly a flower of summer.
Not so, the Morning Glories that grow wild
in front of the pack barn.
They lie quietly, waiting unobtrusively, until the days begin to shorten and the light changes just enough to let you know that fall has come to the South.
You forget about them. They like to surprise.
When you are unsuspecting and take the time to glance their way...there they are once more!
Flowers of the morning, glorious in their simplicity.
And they cause you to ...

Stop and consider the wondrous works of God.
Job 37:14

Feline Therapeutics at G's House

What we can learn about relaxation and stress management from our models: Possum and Mosby.

You can tell by our demonstrators that these techniques work. See how relaxed and stress-free they appear?

Half-moon Tranquility Position
Backwards Hanging Hips Position
Half Kangaroo Right Facing Falling Position

 Dangling Head Meditative Migraine Position

Let us know how these techniques work for you.😹

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isaiah 11:6

A Drive with Granny

Picked this young man up at work today.

Work makes him hungry, so as he prepared to eat his fill of goodness, he said, "Let's drive around."
How many times do I get to do that?  How many times will he still want to do that with his granny?

And so we did.
To some of my 'old-timey' favorite sites:
Old Store at Holleman's XRd

From the Bridge at Burt looking left

From the Bridge at Burt looking right
All the while, we listened to songs from his playlist on my phone, Abba, the Highwaymen, Gordon Lightfoot.
And then, he was ready to go home.

Back at the Lady in Black

While the events below didn't occur on-site at G's house, G and all of hers were together--so that counts!

It had been a long, long time since we had visited The Lady in Black in person---the Darlington Raceway.
What with Earnhardt's death, The Rock closing, and it just getting harder and harder to make it home from Charlotte after a race...we just didn't go anymore.

But then Noah caught the racing bug and we all decided it was time again.

Oh yes!
G had forgotten how much fun it was and how loud it was and all the rest! Did G mention Dale, Jr. was there?

Darlington during throwback week was a good place to start back.

Throwback to old Petty car

Saturday's Xfinity race. Good place to park, good ride to the gate, super good seats where you could feel the debris flying off the track.

It was a Perfect Day with Great Company---so good to be together!

To paraphrase from a poem by G's daddy about lumberjacking ---

It gets in your heart
And it gets in your head.
And you can't quit racing
'Til you lay down dead!

G's Walking Buddy

G likes it when this young man stops by to ask,
"G, do you want to go walking?"

And G is likely to respond, "Well, yes I do." Not because she especially enjoys walking but because this young man asked her.
And off they go, enjoying each other and the day.

Easter of Hope 2021

The great gift of Easter is hope.--Basil Hume

“Easter is the only time of year when it is safe
to put all your eggs in one basket.”

"If Easter says anything to us today, it says this: You can put truth in a grave but it won't stay there." – Clarence W. Hall
"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." Martin Luther King, Jr.
.

"The very first Easter taught us this:
that life never ends and love never dies." – Kate McGahan

"There are always flowers for those who want to see them."
– Henri Matisse

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." I Peter 1:3
