"After--Christmas" at G's House

When the last bite of dinner has been consumed, the last drink turned over, the very last present opened, and the stockings emptied...what is left of Christmas?

When the decorations are "old news" and Christmas is 364 more days away...what is there to do?

Why, "After-Christmas" activities, of course.
Like...
Trailer Tipping   or
pine needle sledding off Pudding Hill!

After all, even Santa needs some R&R.

I found his boots, hat and empty bag on my front porch...and a receipt for a Jet Blue flight to Bimini.

Indian Summer Fishing

"Indian summer is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that sometimes occurs in autumn in the Northern Hemisphere," so says Wikipedia. So it was at the end of November at G's house.  A good time to go fishing.

Never mind that the clouds looked a bit threatening.
We were ready.

Some of us might have gotten a bit distracted.
But not for long. Success!
Enjoyed the beauty of the day...
And the company!

Simple Sand

Sand. Play sand.
Less than $4.00 bag at Home Depot.

Not the expensive kinetic kind that is moldable and sticks together and works well inside.
X

No, just plain sand.  And a couple of old drawers.

A construction worker's dream!
Throw in an excavator, a dump truck, a roller, a bulldozer,

And maybe some water.  Some good fun!
Nothing like some sand under your feet.

Don't forget to cover it when you're done. The cats like sand, too.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house,
and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
(Matthew 7:24-27)

Dinner with the cousins in the Old Kitchen

The Old Kitchen sits out behind G's house.

One night we had a birthday party inside.
We ate at a little table all our own.
Then we left the grown ups to talk while we had cake and ice cream on the porch.
Cousins are the best.

A good time was had by all!

Gathering the Grapes

Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and shall enjoy the fruit. [Jeremiah 31:5]

G's house may not be the mountains of Samaria, and the vineyards in question may just be offshoots of the old grapevine across the road, but still..the grapes begged to be picked and the fruit shall be enjoyed.
